How can I become a Community Champion?
Becoming a community champion may be simpler than you think!
- Are you a community group leader/worker that represents an ethnic minority community?
- Would you like to organise your own visits to a National Park?
- Do you desire to see more communities like yours enjoying and planning to visit National Parks on a long term basis?
- Would you like to get involved in the work of the National Parks and the Youth Hostels Association?
If your answer is 'yes' to any of these questions, you are well on your way to becoming a Mosaic Partnership Community Champion...
As a direct result of detailed conversations with community group leaders involved with Mosaic, we have put together a structure for Community Champions that:
- recognises the knowledge and experience you will develop through your involvement with Mosaic
- categorises the skills you can acquire along the way
- suggests training packages to enhance your experience
We cannot stress enough that we will value and make use of any time you choose to give. The resources that we can provide in return will be in line with the amount of time and commitment you can invest.
Community Champions criteria
Activities and interest + time = Champions Pathway
The table below indicates the four 'Pathways' on which Community Champions can engage with the project. Examples of the kinds of activities that would be undertaken at each of these levels and the associated time commitment are indicated.
Although it may be possible for CCs to progress upwards towards Pathway 4, there is no expectation that you should wish to. It may be that your only interest is in organising group visits (Pathway 1), and that is fine. Indeed, for the project to be successful, we need a good spread of CCs actively operating at each of the different pathways.
