  • The beauty of the Mosaic Partnership is that it offers a range of opportunities for you to influence the decision making processes and service provision of the NPAs, the YHA and CNP
  • You will have a chance to meet and get to know the right people to ensure you are able to influence all that the Mosaic Partnership is trying to achieve
  • All CCs will be invited to attend ‘Feedback Forums’ where you will meet face-to-face with the NPAs and other partners and be able to give them an honest account of the experience of you and your community in relation to the project
  • You will be kept regularly updated on all aspects of the project through our CCs newsletter and the Mosaic Partnership website

  • We are identifying a number of staff and elected members within the National Park Authorities, the Societies, the YHA and CNP who can be made available to you as mentors or who you might ‘shadow’ at work.
  • If you identify a particular area of work within or knowledge about the National Parks that strongly interests you, we will try to find you a suitable mentor to help develop your interest. Perhaps you want to become a Board Member of the YHA, or you’re interested in being employed by an NPA. Mentoring can be described as "help by one person to another in making significant transitions in knowledge, work or thinking."
  • Work shadowing provides an excellent opportunity for you to experience first hand how it is to work within one of the Mosaic Partnership organisations.
  • We have a number of experienced Community Champions who will be made available to new CCs as ‘buddies.’ They can provide you with an informal helping hand in whatever way you choose. For example, they may be able to help you organise a visit to a National Park, or perhaps you might like the support of someone of the same ethnic origin as you who may therefore strongly identify with your interests and concerns.

Support to produce your own promotional materials

  • One of the most important aspects of being a Community Champion will be to spread the word about National Parks and all they have to offer, both to your own immediate community and others who you identify that may be interested. To help you do this we can offer limited financial support to enable you to produce promotional materials such as leaflets.

National Park visits and training workshops

  • New participants who are interested in finding out more about Mosaic are invited to join a residential or one day Group Leader Visit to one of the Parks. These visits allow you to experience first hand the wonderful cultural, heritage and recreational opportunities available to all in National Parks.
  • Overnight visits to the National Parks will also give you the chance to experience the accommodation provided by the Youth Hostels Association (YHA) and to ask their staff questions. The YHA run hostels in each of the National Parks and can provide an ideal, low cost base for when you organise visits for your own community groups.
  • Throughout the life of the project, we will be offering a series of training workshops to help you make the most of your involvement with the Mosaic Partnership. To begin with we are offering training in fundraising (to help you find funds to support visits to the Parks for your community), public speaking about National Parks, and working with the media. After this, it’s down to you to identify your training needs and we’ll do our best to meet these.

Information to help with group and family activities and events

  • We have developed a lot of experience in organising and supporting visits to National Parks both for large groups and for families. Once you are ready to think about organising a visit, we will have all the information you need from planning right through to getting the most out of your visit.

Opportunities to represent the Mosaic Partnership to the media and other organisations

  • We regularly receive requests from the media to speak to our Community Champions about their experience of the National Parks and the Mosaic Partnership. We therefore hope to develop a pool of CCs who will be available for interviews with the media. Don’t forget, we can provide you with training about how to work with the media!
  • The Mosaic Partnership also receives requests to attend various local and national meetings, seminars, and conferences. Again, we will be looking for CCs who are interested in attending such events where you will have the opportunity to represent both the Partnership and your own community.
