Organisational change

A major aim of the project is for the partner organisations to meet the needs of BME communities more effectively and remove barriers to their participation in National Parks whether as visitors, volunteers or staff members. They want to find new ways of making decisions, consulting, providing information and education services, and increasing the range of people who care about and can influence the future management of the National Parks.

The Mosaic partners are conducting their own baseline audits around ethnic community participation in employment, governance and service delivery. This will inform the development of clear targets for improved engagement with BME communities. Targets are likely to include:

For National Park Authorities:

  1. increased quality of visitor experience for BME groups
  2. increased number of BME visitors
  3. greater levels of responses by BME communities to public consultations
  4. greater diversity amongst staff and members

For CNP and YHA:

  1. increased numbers of members, guests (YHA) from BME communities
  2. greater diversity amongst staff and governance structures

For National Park Societies:

  1. increased numbers of members from BME communities
  2. increased participation in Society activities, at events or through active volunteering
